Web architect, web developer, website author, and website administrator… all these are synonyms for webmaster. Website design, development, marketing and maintenance all are his responsibilities. Web master has to be responsible for all the aspects of web operation. Internet specialist, network/web engineer, web administrator, web application engineer are the names used to call a webmaster. Command on script languages like Php, cold fusion, pearl, JavaScript and grip on webserver configuration is necessary. Should be responsible for website viewers access, appearance and navigation. Web portal manager profession will be almost like webmaster but with small differences. Should post information of different sites in web portal. Services available in web portal are matrimony, emails, news, sports, shopping, tours and travel management, stock prices and business details, entertainment etc., Examples are Google, yahoo and rediff.

Eligibilities:
Knowledge on website development. Knowledge in New designs, new ideas, web logic, experience in web surf administration, coding (HTML, PHP, .NET, ASP, Database, JavaScript knowledge), Unix with network trouble shooting, Linux administration, experience in CA site minder, web design skills, HTML knowledge in tag level, DHTML, com, experience in client side java scripting, knowledge on browser compatibility on all platforms, Image conversion, Photoshop, adobe image are necessary.

Responsibilities
One should effectively manage website creation and maintenance. New information should be updated and old ones be removed. Should monitor search engine. Tracking links should be provided. One should install SSL certificates. One should integrate web infrastructure components with business applications. One should manage URL redirections. One should manage website concurrency and security.
