Tips to Save Power in usage Electric cooker, Lights, Iron Box, Washing Machine, Fridge and Geyser

Every rupee is precious in these days when the prices area hiking. The same works in the case of power also. Experts say that we can save power to a major extent in the use of the electric appliances by taking some precautionary steps.

Electric cooker: Switch off the cooker when it comes to the warm mode while cooking. It is less expensive to cook on the gas stove instead of electric stove. If the cooker cover plate is broken, then the usage of the normal plate will leak out the vapors and current is used more.

Usage of the lights: Tube lights and compact florescent bulbs should be used. The light given by 40 watts filament bulbs is given only by 15 watts compact bulbs. As far as possible don’t use the bulbs in the daytime. Use table lamp while reading.

Iron box: While purchasing, select those iron boxes which are low in weight and work automatically. If you stop ironing in the middle then the heat is wasted and more power is used. Power bill will be more if you iron by seeing television or chitchatting. Turn off the iron box even before 5 minutes.

Washing machine: Dry the clothes in the open place instead of using the dryer. See that there are clothes of the load capacity of the machine. It should be taken care that all the appliances in the house are of ISI mark to save power.

Fridge usage: Do not open the door of the fridge too many times. Half an hour cooling will be wasted when the door is opened for one time. Fridge should be placed away from sunlight. The back portion of the fridge should not touch the wall. More power will be consumed if the gasket around the door is damaged.

Geyser usage: We can save more power if we use solar water heaters instead of geysers. All the members of the family should take bath one after the other immediately so as to switch off the geyser soon. Power consumption will be less if warm water is used instead of hot water.
