Tests to find the shape and size of Stones in Kidney

X-ray test is useful to find the size and place of the stone in the kidney of the human body. The test which is helpful in finding the stones in kidney, urethras, bladder is called as IVP (INTRAVENUS PHYLOGRA), IVU (INTRAVENUS UROGRAM). The colored fluid which is inserted in to the body will create an outline around the stone and captures the stone in the kidney. Again doing the X-ray we can find the stone with the help of the outline.

RETROGRADE PHYLOGRAM test can be also used for finding the stone in the kidney. The above said colored fluid will be directly sent to the bladder.  The test needs to be done by the urologist and the surgeons. The radiolucent stones which will be having less calcium cannot be found using this test.

COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

The stones which cannot be found using the X-ray test can be found out through CT scan (computed tomography). This test will be helpful in finding all types of stones except the fossils of the medicines. We can find the size as well as the shape of the stone using this test.

ULTRASOUND SCANNING

CT Scan and X-ray test is not recommended for the pregnant ladies. The radioactive rays which are used in the X-ray and CT scan tests are harmful to the baby in the stomach. In this case, the usage of Ultrasound scanning which is not at all a harmful is the only way to find out this disease. The radiolucent stones which can not be found out through the CT scan test can also be found out through ultrasound scanning. By this test we can also find the hydro neurosis mean the unusual enlargement of kidney and also the stone which is stopped during the metabolism.
