Swine flu
‘Swine Influenza Virus (SIV) or Swine Flu‘ is an infectious viral disease endemic in pigs causing mild fever and blisters around the feet. Normally, swine flu in humans is rare but infections that occur through this flu from human to human are contagious. Swine flu symptoms are almost same as the normal flu symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache and fatigue.
Anti-viral drugs are available to prevent swine flu. Due to respiratory problems, Spreading of germs can be prevented by:
- Concealing your nose or mouth with a tissue and clean your hands often with liquid soap and water, particularly after you cough or sneeze.
- Keeping away from mutual contact of your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Ignoring close contact with people who are malignant.
- Residing at home from work or school if you are ill.
Swine flu outbreak began in April 2009, which is originated from Mexico. World Health Organization (WHO) reported confirmed swine flu cases in many other countries like USA, Israel, Spain, Britain and New Zealand other than Mexico. As Swine flu threats have been spread even to India and it is well capable to deal with any outbreak. Check-ups are done at the respective airports by health authorities and recommend people to visit hospital if any symptoms are suspected. So far Swine flu cases were not detected in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India and no vaccinations are available to rescue against swine flu.
