Surgeries and Treatments to Bones (Osteoporosis, Hemi orthroplasty, Total hip orthoplasty, Dynamic hip screw, Intramedullary nailing)
Osteoporosis:
To confirm this condition dexa examination has to be done to know bone mineral density. After detecting osteoporosis, we can prevent hip fracture effectively by treating with bis phosphonate.
Treatment:
If the health condition of the patient supports, operation has to be done, as early as possible, i.e., within 24 hours, to get good results. If the health condition of the patient doesn’t support, i.e if the patient is suffering from any chronic disease, operation gets delayed. First the chronic diseases have to be cured, and then afterwards the patient is treated for osteoporosis. Operations done for fracture are ….
Hemi orthroplasty:
In this method, uni-polar and bipolar methods are used. It is carried out when the fracture is femoral neck fracture, or when the bone is fragile. After this surgery, leg can bear weights within a short period.
Total hip orthoplasty:
This surgery is necessary for the people suffering with degeneration of bones by arthritis, or for patients who has got fracture of bones due to cancer. This is profoundly seen in people suffering from Osteoporosis (bones become fragile due to small holes formed in the bone). The main problem in this case is fragility of the bones.
Dynamic hip screw:
This surgery is helpful for intertrochanteric fractures. In this condition, screws are used to support the broken parts. It helps in early healing of the bone.
Intramedullary nailing:
This is also carried out for intertrochanteric fractures. Arranging a small metallic nail along with the plate is one method and arranging metallic nail with screw is another method.
