New Zealand is offering many courses to the students and it has become a land mark for higher studies .Education is given under the institute of technology, Colleges of Education and University and so on. Almost all the educational institutions are government recognized and so the fee is also low when compared to other universities.

Three stages

The total education took place in three stages. They are Primary school, secondary education and higher education. Based on the capacity of the students the students can join in the universities or in polytechnic colleges.

Duration of the Courses in New Zealand:

In New Zealand the duration of various courses differs from one another. Bachelor’s degree is 3 yrs, honors degree is for 4yrs, professional degree is for 6yrs and PG is for 2yrs.The academic session starts in the March every year and the admission process took place nearly 7 months.

Poly technique courses are in great demand in New Zealand and there is tie up with many institutes to offer these courses. The academic session starts in the month of Feb-July every year.

Limitations in New Zealand admissions:

For each and every course there are some limitations like the student has to get ‘A’ grade in all his educational career and the knowledge in English is must. Besides this there must be 6.0-6.5 of the IELTS score or 550 marks in TOEFL is compulsory. Those courses which are certified from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority are having International recognition.

Education + Income in New Zealand:

New Zealand govt is offering the facility to do part time job to the students but the permission from the New Zealand Immigration Service is compulsory. By this permission the student can do 20hrs work and also given the student permit .Temporary work permit is also given to the students to work in New Zealand if they get the permission. If the job becomes permanent they can also extend the work permit.

Expenses in New Zealand:

For the recognized degree courses it costs nearly 12-15 thousand new Zealand dollars and in the same way for the under graduate courses it was in between 16-18 thousand dollars ,for engineering 14-16,Science courses 10-12.5, and for commerce courses 10-11 thousand new Zealand dollars. For the PG courses it costs between 14-24,500 dollars.

At present the courses like forestry, bio technology, engineering geology, food technology, diary technology, horticulture, tourism and geothermal energy courses are in great demand in New Zealand. One of the interesting features is that these courses are having International recognition.

Scholarships in New Zealand:

There are many types of scholarships that are offered to the students in New Zealand. They are as follows:

  • New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarship which is given to the students who are doing research in science, engineering and technological fields. The students are given 20.5 thousand dollars per year and 600 dollars of health insurance and also 800 dollars of traveling allowances.
  • Learn Fellowships is a program started in the year 2007 by the New Zealand government. This scholarship is offered to the students who are performing green house gases and its related courses. The same offers are given to the students which are given as above. The students get the fee within 3 weeks of the time duration

  • Residential certificate
  • Good health certificate
  • TB clearance certificate if the student is joining in a course which is more than 6 months of duration
  • Immigration certificate to leave New Zealand after the completion of the course
  • Fee receipts
  • Visa
  • The certificate which proves that he was doing more than one year course.
