Speeding up the Personal Computer

speeding up the personal computerIn the term of usage of a PC over a period of time many files and folders are stored in the hard ware or software of the system. The storage consists of both necessary and unnecessary items. The system gets affected by virus and other harmful elements. The piling up of unnecessary items compromise the performance quality of the PC. It makes it vulnerable to various types of errors and makes the system slow as well. Thus to maintain the smooth and better running of the system, various measures are to be taken.
The various measures that can be taken to ensure better performance of the PC are:
• It is required to check whether the RAM has sufficient memory or not, if not, then the RAM is to be upgraded. The memory of the CPU has also to be checked and possible further upgradation can be done.
• The size of the paging files needs to be checked The size of the paging files should not increase more than 1.5 times that of the RAM. If the RAM has a memory of 2 gigabytes , then the paging files can be turned off.
• Important operations like the Disk Cleanup, Disk checking etc are to be performed
• Defragmentation is to be performed. Defragmentation is a very useful technique. It can gather together some dispersed space available in the system.
• The temporary files and cookies are to be removed.
• The system is to be scanned frequently for any kind of spyware and proper antivirus is to be installed to keep the system virus free. The infected files are to be removed such that the system does not get affected.
• It is required to check for the unused programs and to delete them.
• The start files could be configured by using the windows msconfig if a person is using the windows operating system.
• The driving devices are to be upgraded.
• Adding bulky programs will lead to the slowing down of the PC. Some amount of free space is to be kept in the hard disk for proper running of the PC. It is good to keep 20% of free space in the hard disk.
