Lubricating oil is used to reduce the friction in vehicles and reduce the temperatures. Engine oil, gear oil, Hydraulic oil, turbine oil, transformer oil are some of the lubricating oils. Lubricating oils are prepared by adding additives to different oils.

In our country every year there is a usage of more than 15 lakh tones of lubricating oil. In this automobile usage is 60% and industrial usage is 40%. Wax occupies major share in the crude oil produced in our country. This is not useful in lubricant production. So we are importing lubricant base. For this our country is affording Rs, 1,800 crore annually.

Used lubricating oil
Lubricating oil will get polluted after usage in the vehicles and machines after some period. In this Hydro carbons, dust, rust, iron, copper, zinc, calcium, phosphorus, anti freezing compounds and polymers are present.

Used oil refining
50% of the 15 lakhs tons of lubricating oil used every year in our country will become useless oil. By refining this we can recycle 70% of this oil for usage as lubricants.

Uses

• Water, atmosphere and soil can be prevented from pollution by refining of the lubricating oil.
• From 42 barrels of crude oil we can produce 1 barrel of lubricant base that produces lubricant oil. This saves 1 barrel of base oil through 1 barrel refining oil.
• Production and Maintenance costs will be decreased.

Usage in the developed countries.
Though America is a developed country, it has made compulsory to use 25% of refined lubricants for the lubricating oil used in the country’s military purposes. Legend in the manufacture of cars, Mercedes Benz uses refined lubricating oil for the every new it releases.

Increase in Demand
There is an increase of 15% in the usage of refined lubricating oils in the Indian Industrial Market. There is a vast growth of vehicle sales. At the same time there is an increase of 20% in the usage of lubricating oils in the automobile field. This is a right time to earn profits by marketing the refined lubricating oil.
