Hyper acidity is caused due to irregular food habits | Reasons, precautions and tips to prevent hyper acidity
Changing life styles and corporate office timings are causing various health problems in people. Some employees have to eat outside food because of their office timings. Sleeping late at night, work pressures also are creating problems. Dieting for losing weight with out proper advice can cause burning sensation in stomach, vomiting and constipation. There are all symptoms of hyper acidity. 3 to 4 hours are required by our body to digest the food properly. Various enzymes and Hydrochloric acid produced in the stomach help in digestion. If clean and hot food is taken at regular intervals the production of acids and enzymes in the stomach also will be regular. Digestive system also functions properly. Some times due to the food and other problems, secretion of acids in stomach becomes excess and the mucus layer in the stomach are damaged. This causes burning sensation in the stomach when spicy or sour food is consumed.
Some time vomits also accompany the burning sensation. This problem is not started just in a day. This problem arises due to the improper food habits of days and months.
Reasons for Hyper Acidity
- Hyper acidity problem is more in people who fast for days, who take food at irregular times, who sleep immediately after taking food and also in people who suffer from stress.
- Consumption of excess sweets, fried foods, sour, salt and spicy foods, chocolates, peppermints, coffee, tea, cool drinks etc cause hyper acidity.
- Medicines used for head ache, asthma and allergy and some antibiotics also cause hyper acidity.
- Ulcer caused by some infections, lemon juice, tomato, garlic, onion, spices etc also further increase the burning sensation in the stomach.
Prevention of hyper acidity
- Food should be soft and easily digestible. Reduce the quantity of salt and spices. Do not over eat at a time. Divide the food in to small quantities and eat 3 to 4 times a day. Drink only boiled and cooled water.
- Pomegranate, papaya, banana and apple help in reducing the burning sensation in the stomach. Take butter milk of coconut water twice a day.
Some tips to prevent hyper acidity
- A spoon of Somp, patika bellam, a pinch of Usirika, karkkaya should be mixed and taken with warm water.
- Cardamom – 4, half spoon of akupatri, 5 cloves, and half spoon vaamu should be powder and this mixture should be taken with sugar.
