How to Claim Motor Insurance? Papers to be submitted along application:

Motor Insurance includes various claims like Accident claim, Own damage, theft. Coming to Accident claim there are some important steps that are to be taken immediately when the accident takes place. They are as follows:

  • Note down the number of the vehicle which is responsible for the accident.
  • Note down the details like address, phone number of the witness of the accident if anyone is there.
  • Complaint is to be given immediately in the nearby police station and the case is to be filed.
  • If you are responsible for the accident don’t escape as a thief but, go to the near police station and give the details .Escaping from a problem is a big crime.
  • If the vehicle is damaged completely,& was in an immovable position pass on the  information to the Insurance company for the claim and in the mean while take the vehicle to the nearby garage.
  • After taking the FIR from the police accident regarding the accident consult the Insurance Company through agent or directly or through toll free number to get the claim registered.

Applications to be submitted:

    • Signed claim paper
    • First two pages of the policy documents
    • A Xerox copy of RC of the vehicle
    • A Xerox copy of the driving license
    • The original bill of the repair.

With all the above mentioned papers one can apply for the claim. FIR is compulsory for the damages done in the cases like third party, theft, & accident. Before 24hrs only a surveyor comes and estimates the damage caused and decides the claim. Many companies are using cashless process for the damage caused where the repair is done without paying the money is paid in the company panel garage. Surveyor estimates the damage of the vehicle in the garage and decides the claim & the company pays the settles the claim to the garage. If the estimate level crosses, it is the customer who has to bear the excess amount but not the company which is responsible.
