The life without mobile phone is not possible to dream off. It has become a part and parcel of our life based on the range one can afford. There are mobiles which range from Rs.5oo to lakhs. These mobile phones are available in the market with all the latest features in order to attract the attention of the customers. What to do if such a mobile is lost by our negligence or it got repaired? So, the only way to get away from this problem is to get your mobile insured. Now many mobile companies are having direct tie up with the Insurance companies where we can get “Insured mobile” with fewer premiums. “This new idea is attracting a number of customers” says Hotspot director. If the mobile cost below Rs.5000 the premium is Rs.300 & if it ranges between Rs.5001-10000 its premium is Rs.600.Like that the premium depends up on the cost of the mobile where the maximum premium is up to Rs.1500.

Warranty is there…Is Insurance needed?

Each and every company gives warranty only up to a certain period & it is only for the problems that are up to the limit, if it exceeds with our negligence, the company is not responsible for the loss or damage. At that time Insurance is needed. For example, if the mother board is damaged with the breakage of the display, the company is not responsible for that damage because it was done by our negligence. At that time, Insurance is responsible for the damage caused and tries to recover it.

Which comes under coverage?

Insurance gives coverage when the mobile is lost, damaged. The value of the insurance coverage lessen day by day & the complete coverage is given only for the first 3months.Insurance offers a new handset If the old one  is not repairable  where they charge 5% in the phone charge. The insurance can be taken not only for the new mobiles but also for the old ones too where United India Insurance is giving the offer. The value of the mobile is estimated according to that day price.

How to claim?

FIR is to be taken from the police station if the mobile is lost by theft or in accident. The claim is not possible in case if the mobile is lost with our negligence by not locking the car keys or by keeping it in the scooter & it is the FIR which decides what happened. So, In order to claim for the mobile the original invoice, original FIR, original insurance certificate, a letter from the service provider that the sim is blocked are to be submitted to the Insurance Company before 15 days from the incident took place.

Any problem?

Customers say that, though insurance took up the whole responsibility, it became difficult in getting the claim especially where the police are not registering the case. When asked, the police say that if the complaints are registered for case of loss it becomes a headache to the department.

Insurance – Case registration:

Registering the case is common for any loss of property. Due to some reasons, the cases of mobile loss or theft reduced & the case will be filed if the proof showing that mobile is lost with Insurance claim.

Insurance security for one year is given for each mobile of any range which is purchased from our shop. If anyone claims about the mobile lost or theft the case will be settled in 12days.
