Let us know the common dental emergencies and their treatment methods.
When the tooth is broken..
There is more possibility of teeth to get broken while playing or in an accident…
-When the tooth gets loosened in an injury, hold the tooth in the socket tightly with a kerchief or clean cotton.
-If the tooth comes out totally, then keep it in milk or coconut water or in pure water till you consult a dentist.
-If the person can bare, the tooth should be cleaned and replaced it its socket by taking anyone’s help. Otherwise consult the dentist immediately. Remember, the tooth should be given to the dentist in the moist condition only.
-When you consult a dentist, he will give sedation and replace the moist tooth in its position and if necessary, sutures will also be given. In case the teeth are loosened, they are supported with a wire to the neighboring teeth. Root canal treatment can also be given if necessary after replacing the tooth.
When the tooth is broken…
Clean the broken teeth in soft water. Keep an ice cube in the place where tooth is broken to avoid swelling.
-Don’t bite anything before consulting a dentist. After meeting the dentist, cosmetic filling is done according to the requirement.
When the Jaw bone is broken….
-Dentist also plays an important role when treatment is given for a patient who meets with a major accident with facial injuries. In this condition the patients feels inconvenient to open his mouth freely. In some cases, patient can’t swallow or chew anything when the jaw bone dislocates. If jaw bone is suspected for fracture, hold an ice cube tightly at that place. Consult the dentist to confirm the fracture and necessary treatment should be taken (wiring or surgery).
For severe tooth ache…….
Severe tooth ache may be a result of a hole in the tooth reaching the nerve. As a result there may be arising of sleeplessness. Moreover pain will be more while sleeping.
In that case….
-Gargle the mouth with salt water. Painkiller can be used to relive from pain until you meet a dentist. Don’t use painkillers unnecessarily.
-Don’t place painkillers or asprin directly on the jaws because they may damage the jaws. Rinse the mouth with warm water. To relieve from the pain completely, consult the dentist as soon as possible.
Biting of lips and tongue…….
-Clean that part with clean cloth.
-Go to the nearby hospital if it bleeds or bleeding doesn’t stop.
When something gets struck in between the teeth…
-Remove that thing without causing injury to the jaws and teeth. Don’t use sharpened things for this purpose.
-Consult the dentist immediately if it bleeds. Dental flaws (thread like) are used to remove the stuck substance.
-Brushing the teeth, gargling with salt water, and flawing will clean the teeth. If not consult a dentist.
Dental emergencies can be avoided by taking such precautions.
